Corey Barnes

Board President

Corey Barnes was born and raised in Runge and serves as the Board President of Grace Community School. He currently serves as the Youth Pastor at First Baptist Church of Runge and was instrumental in helping found Grace Community School.

​

Corey and his wife, Tomika, have been married for seven years and are blessed with two children, Donovan and Kylie. As parents, educators, and ministry leaders, they have seen firsthand the lasting impact that Christ centered education can have on a child’s heart, mind, and faith.

​

Corey felt a deep calling to help establish Grace Community School out of a desire to see biblical truth joyfully proclaimed through education in the local community. His leadership reflects a commitment to faith, service, and long term investment in the spiritual and academic growth of students.

Christine Brasher

Board Treasurer

Christine Brasher serves as the Treasurer of the Board of Directors at Grace Community School. She is a registered nurse who has faithfully served her community as a school nurse and is an active member of Runge First Baptist Church.

​

Christine brings a strong heart for service, organization, and stewardship to her role on the board. Her professional background and dedication to children make her a valuable part of the leadership team, helping ensure the school operates with integrity and care.

​

Christine is passionate about providing students with both a strong Christian foundation and an excellent academic experience, believing that these together prepare children for the opportunities God has prepared for their future.

Dr. Rose Funke

Board Secretary

Dr. Rose Funke serves as the Secretary of the Board of Directors at Grace Community School. She is the owner of Runge Veterinary Clinic and has long been active in serving both her profession and her community.

​

Dr. Funke’s vision for Grace Community School was shaped through her experiences serving on mission trips with the South Texas Children’s Home, where she witnessed the powerful impact of Christian education in communities with limited resources.

​

After years of prayer and conversation within her church community, Dr. Funke felt called to help establish Grace Community School as a local mission project. Her leadership reflects faith, perseverance, and a deep commitment to investing in the next generation.

Teresa Mosier Kunschik

Board Member

Teresa Mosier Kunschik serves as a member of the Board of Directors for Grace Community School. She has faithfully served families throughout Karnes County and surrounding communities for more than 25 years.

​

Teresa worked as a breastfeeding peer counselor and later as a Board Certified Lactation Consultant through the WIC program and in private practice, retiring on December 31, 2025. Throughout her career, she has been deeply committed to supporting children, parents, and families during some of life’s most important seasons.

​

In addition to her professional work, Teresa continues to serve through ministry efforts including van ministry, teaching, and helping lead summer children’s camps. Her heart for ministry and dedication to families align beautifully with the mission of Grace Community School.
